THE GLITTERING COURT Paperback Release Day Blitz + GIVEAWAY

8:00:00 AM

By now I'm sure you've heard of an author by the name of Richelle Mead, whose bestselling books in the Vampire Academy series were adapted into a little ol' movie not too long ago. Y'know, no biggie or anything. A little over a year ago in April of 2016, Richelle released the first in a series of books that move away from beloved Rose and Dimitri and toward a New World (literally) with Adelaide and Cedric, among other new star players.

Midnight Jewel, the sequel to The Glittering Court hits shelves in June, but in the meantime, You can reread TGC in all of its paperback glory that hits shelves today!

Big and sweeping, spanning from the refined palaces of Osfrid to the gold dust and untamed forests of Adoria, The Glittering Court tells the story of Adelaide, an Osfridian countess who poses as her servant to escape an arranged marriage and start a new life in Adoria, the New World. But to do that, she must join the Glittering Court.

Both a school and a business venture, the Glittering Court is designed to transform impoverished girls into upper-class ladies who appear destined for powerful and wealthy marriages in the New World. Adelaide naturally excels in her training, and even makes a few friends: the fiery former laundress Tamsin and the beautiful Sirminican refugee Mira. She manages to keep her true identity hidden from all but one: the intriguing Cedric Thorn, son of the wealthy proprietor of the Glittering Court.

When Adelaide discovers that Cedric is hiding a dangerous secret of his own, together they hatch a scheme to make the best of Adelaide’s deception. Complications soon arise—first as they cross the treacherous seas from Osfrid to Adoria, and then when Adelaide catches the attention of a powerful governor.

But no complication will prove quite as daunting as the potent attraction simmering between Adelaide and Cedric. An attraction that, if acted on, would scandalize the Glittering Court and make them both outcasts in wild, vastly uncharted lands…

While you wait for Midnight Jewel, here's three reasons why The Glittering Court will dazzle you:

  1. The characters -- Every girl is so dynamic, and their stories are so richly different from one another's; though they still manage to come together despite their differences as they are being groomed into proper ladies at the Glittering Court. The ladies may be subject to training to fit the mold of an "ideal woman" but that doesn't mean they aren't strong, individual, and complex characters.

  2. The romance -- because duh. Nobody write slow-burn romance like Richelle Mead does, and the chemistry betwen Cedric and Adelaide is so electric. There's almost a star-crossed lover aspect (as is often the case with her characters), but I can't exactly find much else about the pair to complain about, they're so passionate.

  3. The world -- evidently based in US history with nods to 17th/18th century high society, with a unique twist of its own, there's a lot to love about the setting that Mead builds. The world and lore itself are almost characters just as much as Adelaide, Mira, Tamsin, and Cedric are.

There you have it! Three reasons to read The Glittering Court and get pumped for Midnight Jewel. Don't forget to enter the giveaway and win one of 10 paperback copies of The Glittering Court!
