I know that Valentine's Day can be a bit lonely and seem trite to those of us that are living the single life, but isn't that what book boyfriends are for? To kick off this feature, here's how I would spend my V-Day if any of my book boos existed in the real world!

Everybody and their mother who has ever exchanged conversation with me about the Mara Dyer series can tell you that Noah Shaw is essentially my ideal guy all wrapped up in a charming and devilishly handsome lop-sided grin and a jawline sharp enough to kill. Oh, how I love that boy. We would start the day when he picks me up from my house after insisting to be the one driving. Of course, when I open the door my shoes would be untied and he would tie them for me. He would take me to an art museum for the day and we would talk about the greats, about literature, about our favorite artists. He would take me to lunch at a little French bakery, or my favorite Puerto Rican place. The day would end in Noah's room as we peruse his personal library and have a cozy reading session with one another!

Then again, my love for The Darkling also knows no bounds. Broody and dark, and all sorts of trouble, there's just something so intriguing about him that I find so romantic that draws me to him. I doubt that he's one for romantic strolls through the Little Palace, but he seems as though he would have an appreciation for history and academics. We could study old maps and tomes to examine the history of Ravka, before heading to Baghra's hut for scalding hot tea and a somewhat civil conversation. We would take a walk down to the lake and watch the Grisha training as the sun sets, before taking a private dinner in his chambers by candlelight.

Lastly, my final favorite book boyfriend is Liam Stewart from The Darkest Minds trilogy. So gentlemanly, Liam has a twinge of Southern charm (despite being from Ohio...?) and is so protective over those he cares most about. With a heart as big as his, I know he wouldn't mind spending the day taking a drive in Black Betty. We would road trip into the Appalachians and set up camp in the woods somewhere. After spending some time cozy by the fire, roasting marshmallows and making s'mores, we'd stargaze under the trees and search for constellations and shooting stars in the night sky.

Book boyfriends are always fun to imagine scenarios with, but it's always good to remind yourself that the right guy (or gal) is still out there waiting to cross paths with you. Valentine's can remind us how single some of us are, but it's also a good way to celebrate the love and connections you have with your friends. That's why this year my friends and I are having our own Galentine's Day celebration the day before, inspired by Parks and Rec and full of candy gorging and movie binging!
